Importance of Words in Learning English Language
This may seem very obvious, just as it is important for me to learn words as I study Arabic. Without knowing words of the language you are learning you will not be able to communicate. But another reason could be that the English language can be tricky at times with some of our words and what we do to them. For example we have words that are pronounced the same but have very different meanings. One example of this are the words witch and which. Which is a choice to make, and the word witch describes someone who flies on brooms and casts spells. The word flies that I just used also brings up another tricky point in English, how we change the ending of our words. The word flies comes from the word fly. Notice the ending y was dropped and replaced with a ies. Where it gets tricky is that an ending y is not always dropped. One example is the word study. If I drop the ending y and replace it with an ing I would have the word studing which is a very different word from studying
Importance of Vocabulary in Learning English Language
Learning vocabulary is important for more than one reason. Every language has many ways of expressing the same thought or idea. As your vocabulary grows you will be able to better understand what others are saying or writing. When you talk to people you want to be understood, this is where vocabulary becomes important. I think Doctors and Nurses are a great example of the importance of vocabulary. Doctors and Nurses speak what I consider to be the secret language of biology. If they tell me I have an inflamed configularity bumpumus on my finalingus maximus I will have no idea what they are saying. That vocabulary is meaningless to me. I can understand it when they tell me that I have a small splinter in my finger.
I hope this helps in some small way.
